Hello 2010

Oh 2010, you don’t know how good it is to see you. Honestly, 2009 had worn out its welcome. I mean, it all started off okay, then got crappy, then okay again… and then it was shit-tacular what with the passing of my aunt the week of Christmas and all.

Don’t get me wrong, there are so many things I am thankful for from 2009. I made a ton of new friends with all the traveling and camping this year – and I got to know a lot of my old friends so much better. (There’s a lot to be said when you’re with a small group of people, weekend after weekend, in places where there are little to no opportunities to shower (except at Nittany – love them, they build showers) – you really get to know those people. And get to love them. Or, in the odd case, not.) I got to cross more places off my list of places to visit – and discover that I love Colorado. I didn’t think I would. I’ve made more time for me this year. I haven’t really done that in years past, and honestly, I’m not going to forget to do that again. What I need to learn is how not to feel guilty when I am taking time for me… but that’s another thing altogether. I’ve met a pretty nice guy, parted ways for awhile and came back to each other. We’ll see how that goes.

If I had been a better blogger, I might have made a list of the things I’ve done in 2009 and a list of resolutions for 2010. I’m not, though. I’m not really the resolution-type, either – I love the idea, but I always break those resolutions then feel so guilty about it. Why heap on the guilt for the year? Screw it, no resolutions. I do have a few goals, small ones, but that’s it.

  • Be a better blogger in the new year. I’m not talking blog every day, because we all know that’s just not gonna happen, but make a more conscious effort to blog. It’s here, I should use it.
  • Be better about taking pictures and uploading them. Also, attempt to take a picture every day, Project 365 style. Will I succeed? Probably not, but at least I can try. Maybe even try more self-portraits. And try not to be so damn critical.
  • Try to get some organization in my life. Right now, my life is a mess, physically. I need to do something about it.
  • Figure out what to do with the shop this year. I’ve been putting off making a decision one way or the other for so long for so many reasons… I need to do something for me.

So, that’s it. That’s my focus for the year. I’ve gotten a start on the organization, since I spent my entire evening rearranging and reorganizing and scrubbing surfaces in my kitchen. It’s a start. :)

I really thought my winning streak would trump her losing streak…

Damn Dani and her losing streak! Her brand of magic is quite powerful… Darlin’, maybe you should root for the other teams so our boys can win… I’m just sayin’. (You know I love you and am only kidding… maybe. LOL!)

I guess I should explain, huh? On Tuesday night, Dani and I decided that we needed some girl-bonding time over my favorite sport – hockey. While I *heart* hockey (and I *heart* my boys, the Washington Capitals, even more), I haven’t made it to any games this season. I just haven’t had any time. Now, up until this point, every game that I’ve been able to attend has been a winner for the boys… which meant that I had an unbroken winning streak. I thought that those odds would be good when compared to Dani’s famous losing streak for teams… and until Tuesday, it was. Damnit. At least it was a good game – after the first period – however the fight that broke out 8:07 into the first period was pretty fab! I must say that the Bruins seemed to have it out for my new favorite boy, Ben Clymer (aka Slimer). (He’s no FutureBabyDaddy, but he can be my personal fave for now. Freakin’ Dallas Stars webpage doesn’t have a link to his profile!!!) Some pics from the other night…

What? Doesn’t everyone carry yarn and knitting in their purse for something to do between periods?

Olie
Go Olie!!

Of course, as we left the Verizon Center, we discovered it was snowing… which made the walk off the Metro platform at King Street quite interesting. We were slipping and sliding all around! There’s just something that makes snow seem so magical as it’s falling. It just feels all new and makes me feel like a little kid again. So, we pulled out cameras and started taking pictures. (Luckily, Dani took none of me while I was walking around trying to catch snowflakes on my tongue.) If you want to see the pictures, I’m putting them in after the bump. Consider this a makeup for all the pictures I haven’t posted for Project 365 (or is 365 Project? I can never remember).

Project 365: Day 3 (it’s a two-fer!)

How sad. The last Gingerbread Latte of the season. I guess it’s back to the Caramel Macchiatos now… (Hmmm… I’m not sure I’d be able to give Poker this order and hope he’d get it right… it’s too damn complicated! LOL!)

One of my artsy shots… While I spend too damn much time at the shop, I try to make some use of it. :) Really, after talking with Steph today, I was reminded about how much I love photography and how much I miss it. So, I looked around for a subject and found one within the shop!

Project 365: Day 2

Windowam

With today being the first day back at the shop after the New Year holiday, I wanted to try to take a picture of the new window Kel designed. While I couldn’t get a good picture of the window this morning (the fabric is quite fab), I did get this great reflection of Christ Church’s parish house. Which struck me as a very cool way to represent the old and the new.

Project 365: Day 1

So, this is how I spent the first minutes of the new year: blogging, watching TV, drinking wine, and knitting. Do I know how to live or what? LOL.

I’ve decided that it’s not feasible for me to blog daily with pictures, however, I’m going to try – when I go on trips (like the one in 11 days), I’ll still take pictures daily and upload them when I get back. (This way I force myself to pull pictures off of my damn camera!)
